Vapor Barriers

Vapor barriers are products that resist diffusion of moisture and/or gas through floor assemblies of a building. Vapor barriers are high strength, puncture resistant membranes and are available in a variety of thicknesses ranging from 6-mils to 21-mils. During our application we tape all seams and booted penetrations to provide a complete seal. These systems result very low vapor permeability, preventing moisture, water vapor and soil gases from entering into your building envelope, which helps to protect against mold growth.

Vapor barriers are applied to the subgrade within the footprint of a building prior to floor assemblies in conditions such as:

  • Slab on grade
  • Raised wood floors
  • Crawl space
