Foam Fill / Tapered Insulation
Foam fill and tapered insulation are used on projects in a variety of different applications. Foam fill (Expanded Polystyrene) is often used in lieu of full depth dirt fill or concrete to reduce the weight load on a structure.Expanded polystyrene insulates with an R-value of R-4 per inch and is available with a compressive strength of 10 to 60 PSI. Tapered insulation (Extruded Polystyrene) is utilized for floor leveling and to build positive slope on horizontal substrates. Extruded polystyrene insulates with an R-value of R-5 per inch and is available with a compressive strength of 25 to 100 PSI.
The common application of these products include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Void fill
- Floor leveling / slope building
- Insulating roofs, slabs and walls
- Sound deadening
- Green roof landscaping
- Retaining walls for lateral load reduction
- Beneath walk-in coolers
